Small Focus Group Volunteers Needed – End of Life Planning

SMALL FOCUS GROUP – END OF LIFE PLANNING

NBRC is looking for volunteers to be a part of a small focus group to discuss end of life planning and related issues.

  • Have you given some thought to end of life planning?
  • Have you thought through an advanced directive?
  • Do you want to talk through these issues with a small group? Your participation is critical in developing sound guidance to help us all navigate, plan and assist our population through this chapter of life in the future.
    • The commitment is very time limited.
      • The focus group plans to have two, 2-hour sessions held at the North Bay Regional Center Napa office – 610 Airpark Road, Napa Ca, 94558
      • Meetings will start by next week, 1/13/2020
    • We encourage participation from under-represented groups, including ethnic and religious minorities.

Dr. Mahajan is a part of a larger group of Regional Center clinicians who are working to formulate recommendations that will be submitted to Regional Center Executive Directors and eventually to DDS.

Please e-mail Dr. Mahajan directly, gmahajan@nbrc.net, with names and/or if you are interested in participating in this very important process.

Thank you.

NBRC’s Local Development Priorities

Community Resource Development Plan FY 19/20 – NBRC’s Local Priorities

A Community Resource Development Plan (CRDP) is developed by each regional center in California with stakeholder input. This plan will be used to develop new resources for individuals with developmental disabilities living in the community.

NBRC gathered stakeholder input via survey and public meeting and determined the below local priorities for NBRC’s Community Resource Development Plan:

  • Day/Employment Programs for individuals with intense behavioral needs
  • Children’s Residential Services
  • Employment Services
  • Intense Behavioral Services for individuals with Autism
  • Respite for individuals with intense behavioral needs
  • Crisis Services-all ages

NBRC will submit its 2019-20 fiscal year Community Resource Development Plan to the Department of Developmental Services by June 14, 2019.  Once the plan is approved by the Department of Developmental Services, NBRC will publish Requests for Proposals asking service providers to develop new services to meet these priorities.

The 2017 Budget Trailer Bill, Assembly Bill 107, amended The Lanterman Act Section 4418.25 and added Section 4679, authorizing the Department of Developmental Services – when it determines that sufficient funding has been appropriated and reserved for a fiscal year for the Community Placement Plan (CPP) – to allocate the remaining CPP funds to regional centers for purposes of community resource development to address services and supports needs of consumers living in the community.

If you have additional input to provide on NBRC’s local priorities, please email carmena@nbrc.net  prior to June 14, 2019.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS OPPORTUNITY FUND

BOARD OF DIRECTORS OPPORTUNITY FUND

The North Bay Regional Center Board of Directors Opportunity Fund consists of donations from outside entities, staff donations and other donations from the community to assist people with developmental disabilities.

Doug Cleveland, a past Director of Client Services at NBRC developed the Board Opportunity Fund when he and his wife held a fund raising event for its initial donation.  Some examples of services paid through the opportunity fund include client funeral expenses, rent, social and recreational activities, food, clothing, etc.

In addition to helping clients with basic needs the Board Opportunity Fund also allows NBRC’s clients to enjoy and participate in activities NBRC cannot fund such as swimming, summer camps, horseback riding, and other adventures.  The fund also provides funding for medical support not covered by Medi-Cal or NBRC such as specialized health monitors, dental care, and wheelchairs adapted for specific needs.

For NBRC clients striving to live independently for the first time, the Board Opportunity Fund provides resources for them to obtain their own residence.

The NBRC Board Opportunity Fund is a worthwhile benefit that assists clients and families served by NBRC to experience a full range of support, activities and progress in their lives.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Donations can be made to:
