The Department of Developmental Services will hold four public meetings to consult with stakeholders, including consumers and families, advocates, providers, and protection/advocacy agencies, to review purchase of service data and develop recommendations to help reduce disparities. Discussion areas will include identifying cultural barriers and challenges in obtaining regional center services and the areas that need clarification for people to understand the service delivery system, as well as, plans and recommendations to promote equity and reduce disparities in the purchase of services.

Since 2013, USC Telehealth has partnered with CA regional centers and SELPAs and donated nearly $500K in free professional counseling and supportive services for adults and caregivers that have a family member with special needs dealing with the unique challenges that they face such as frustration, grief over diagnosis, stress on marriages, sibling children and more. The Mothers and Babies (MB) Course is a program that promotes healthy mood management by teaching pregnant women and new moms how to effectively respond to stress in their lives through increasing the frequency of thoughts and behaviors that lead to positive mood states.
