Behavioral Intervention Programs
These may be provided through private insurance or purchased by NBRC per the Individualized Program Plan (IPP). They will include assessment, training and consultation with the family, care giver or program staff, for individuals who engage in behaviors that pose a serious threat to their living arrangement or program. Parent Behavior Management Trainings These multi-session workshops enable parents to learn the basic principles and concepts of Behavior Theory and their practical applications to the family’s behavior challenge(s) in a supportive and social environment. Parents are encouraged to put into practice what they learn between classes, and share their success or challenge. Parents learn effective techniques to be used in a variety of settings (e.g., restaurants, stores, mall, park, special events, etc.), and how to address disruptive and potentially dangerous behaviors (e.g., self injurious behavior, aggression, destructive tantrums, etc.). Parents will learn what their participation in the ‘in home’ program will be if they receive behavior services.
- This is a mandatory training for parents requesting in-home behavior services.
- Parents are exempted from this mandate if their medical insurance is paying and the child receiving behavior services has a diagnosis of autism.
- See your Service Coordinator for questions regarding insurance co-pays
Online Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM)
Online coursework in Parent Training is also available. The MIND Institute has created a series of modules titled ADEPT, which can be taken on your home computer, at your public library, or other location. Please see your Service Coordinator about this option.
